Whistleblower, false claims act, or “qui tam” litigation is an area of law based on the simple idea that public policy supports rewarding individuals for showing the courage to blow the whistle on frauds against the government. Under the federal False Claims Act, and similar state statutes, a whistleblower may bring a “qui tam” action in the name of the government against a person or corporation for false or fraudulent claims made to federal and state agencies, including Medicare and healthcare fraud, defense contractor fraud, and insurance fraud.
In recognition of these efforts to bring wrongful conduct into the light of day, whistleblowers are eligible for monetary rewards when they recover funds on behalf of the government and its taxpayers. At Wallace Miller, we stand with and fight for these brave individuals.
