“I take every case personally because I know that for my clients, this isn’t just a lawsuit — it’s their chance to seek justice.”

Kathleen's Story
Kathleen B. McGivney is a South Side of Chicago native, raised in the Beverly neighborhood. Growing up in the tight-knit, Catholic community, she learned early that you show up for your neighbors, you give back, and you use whatever you have to help the people around you.
At Wallace Miller, Kathleen represents plaintiffs in personal injury, medical malpractice, and products liability cases—but what drives her is simpler than any case description: she believes ordinary people who’ve been hurt by the negligence and wrongful conduct of others deserve to be heard, and she takes it personally when they’re not.
Kathleen’s commitment to public service runs deep. Before law school, Kathleen interned for a U.S. Senator, where she saw firsthand how policy and advocacy shape the lives of everyday people. That experience reinforced what she already believed: that the system should work for ordinary people, not against them.
Before becoming an attorney, Kathleen built her legal foundation from the ground up—working as a litigation paralegal at Kirkland & Ellis, clerking at Corboy & Demetrio during law school, and externing for the Honorable John Robert Blakey in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. As an attorney, she chose plaintiffs’ work deliberately, drawn to the people on the other side of powerful institutions and insurance companies: the consumer, the patient, and the family that trusted a product or a company and paid the price.
At Wallace Miller, Kathleen has worked across the full spectrum of plaintiffs’ litigation—from national mass tort MDLs to individual motor vehicle cases. She brings the same level of preparation and attention to every matter, because she believes every client deserves to feel like a priority.

“Very pleased with my experience with Wallace Miller handling my case. They are very professional and always responded to my questions in a very timely and efficient manner.”
“I truly believe Wallace Miller did their very best in representing me. While the process is long, every effort was made to keep me up to date on what was going on.”
A Closer Look
Kathleen’s path to law was shaped by the woman she watched most closely growing up—her mother, who was the first in her family to become an attorney. Building a legal career in a male-dominated profession, Kathleen’s mom showed her that the legal world had room for her too, and that she had every right to take up space in it.
