Latest Update: November 2025 – JPML consolidates Roblox sexual abuse cases in the Northern District of California.

The Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation (JPML) has consolidated more than 30 lawsuits against Roblox in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California. The newly formed multidistrict litigation will be overseen by Judge Richard Seeborg.

This is an important step forward both for existing lawsuits against Roblox and for lawsuits filed in the future. Key issues of the cases, including discovery, expert interviews, and procedural decisions, will be able to proceed more efficiently and fairly across all litigations. The decision by the JPML also shows that the courts are taking the scope of Roblox cases across the U.S. seriously.

Advocating for Safer Online Spaces for Kids

Wallace Miller is investigating and pursuing allegations that Roblox is responsible for the sexual abuse of minors on its online gaming platform and through external messaging service Discord. In a new lawsuit filed by our team and co-counsel, we allege that Roblox and Discord are hunting grounds for sexual predators, permit sexually explicit images and abusive content, and are responsible for the sexual exploitation of an unknown number of vulnerable children.

If your child has been exposed to sexual content or has suffered sexual abuse through Roblox or Discord, contact our Survivor Advocacy team today. We offer free, confidential consultations and can help you assess the situation and determine the best way to move forward. Child sexual abuse on Roblox

Despite Roblox’s claims that it prioritizes child safety, the platform allows child sexual abuse material to flourish and enables pedophiles to groom and sexually abuse children through its services.

According to the complaint, sexual and abusive content is pervasive on the platform. This includes simulated sexual experiences and experiences that gamify real-life abuse from sex offenders like Sean “Diddy” Combs and Jeffrey Epstein.

Roblox has also allowed for and facilitated the sexual exploitation of children and teenagers. In multiple cases over the past several years, predators have used the direct message feature in Roblox to groom children, gain their trust, and send sexually explicit messages. Some of these abusers sent sexual content, coerced children to send explicit photos, and met with and abused children in person.

How Discord enables Roblox sexual abuse

Discord is a messaging platform and chat tool founded in 2015 to help gamers connect with one another. Since then, it has expanded into a globally popular communication service that allows users to exchange direct messages and connect on “servers,” or chat groups based around shared interests.

More than 200 million active users use Discord to chat via voice, video, and text. The platform has become increasingly popular with children, especially following the Covid-19 pandemic, and as of 2025 the average age on Discord is 16 years old.

While Discord promises parents that it’s a safe site for children to communicate, numerous lawsuits allege that its lax safety measures expose users to child predators. According to complaints filed against the company, Discord has a serious and widespread problem with harmful content, sexual exploitation, and child sexual abuse material (CSAM). Despite its claims of rigorous safety standards, it has become a place for predators to exchange child pornography as well as identify young users to groom and abuse. In some cases, children are coerced into sending explicit content or meeting their abuser in person.

The Roblox platform encourages its users to communicate via Discord in order to increase engagement on both platforms and thereby increase mutual profit. Roblox users can post Discord links and usernames, while Discord lets users link their Roblox profiles to their accounts.

This connection enables predators to meet and groom children on Roblox before moving their conversations to private chats on Discord. Due to inadequate safety measures, children are then coerced into participating in sexual acts. Children who are sexually exploited often suffer long-term emotional and psychological harm because of the companies’ failure to protect them online.

What is Roblox?

As a popular online gaming platform, Roblox allows users to create and play their own games, called “experiences.” These experiences allow users to showcase their creativity, play easily with their friends, and dive into near-unlimited virtual worlds. In 2023, it had about 380 million users, 58% of which were children and almost 40% of which were 13 years old or younger. About 20 million people log onto the platform every day in the U.S. and Canada.

The platform is free and easy to download on consoles, computers, tablets, and phones. It allows users to interact in “experiences” and directly communicate with each other. Roblox has repeatedly promised parents that it is a safe place for kids to learn, play, and connect.
